Michael Hennes is an Associate Principal and Project Director at CBB, and brings over 20 years of experience in architectural lighting design to his projects. He joined the firm in 1987, immediately after graduating with high honors in Architecture from the University of Florida. His educational background gives him insight into the poetic use of lighting to reinforce architectural designs. He enjoys working with different architects and learning about their differing attitudes toward architecture and light. |

He is committed to the goal of sustainable, energy-efficient lighting design solutions and has extensive experience specifying solid state lighting technologies, designing lighting control systems and participating on LEED® project teams, including Cook+Fox Offices (LEED Platinum Rated) and One Bryant Park (LEED Platinum Pending). He has lectured on LED applications for LEDucation 2007, a joint program sponsored by IESNY and Designers Lighting Forum of New York and has served as a judge in the 2008 Next Generation Luminaires™ Solid State Lighting Design Competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). He is also a new member of the DOE CALiPER committee, which is charged with establishing standards for the testing of solid state lighting equipment. In addition, Michael has lectured for the Designers Lighting Forum of New York, IES New York Chapter, The Center for Architecture in NYC and Light Congress 2006. He has given tours of the lighting at 7 World Trade Center for Open House New York and has written for LD&A Magazine. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.  Michael has participated in a number of award-winning projects at CBBLD and has been the recipient of IES Lumen Awards, the IES Paul Waterbury Award for Outdoor Lighting, the IALD Award of Merit, the IIDA Award of Merit and the A/L Magazine Award of Excellence.  |
