Veterans Day Tribute

In commemoration of Veterans Day and in celebration of the reopening of the Intrepid Museum, CBBLD donated its time to develop a red, white and blue variation of its original tower crown lighting scheme for 731 Lexington Avenue. The building owner, Vornado Realty Trust, participated with other New York City skyscrapers to create this night-lighting event. The special lighting scheme was on view for a full week. On Veterans Day, the lighting was extinguished for one minute at 11:00 PM as a tribute to veterans of war.

Awards for Rénee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall Lighting Design

CBBLD’s design of the Rénee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, California won the IIDA Edwin F. Guth Award of Excellence. This project also won three other awards in 2008: the IALD Award of Merit, the Lumen Award of Excellence and the A/L Light & Architecture Outstanding Achievement Award.  The performing arts center is a true creation of the 21st century, using a lighting scheme that employs the most advanced metal halide fixtures and LED sources.  The result is a design that uses energy 10% below the allotment of California’s challenging Title 24 energy code. Segerstrom Hall was featured in the August issue of A/L Magazine when the annual award winners were announced: A/L Magazine, August 2008
