SYDNEY & WALDA BESTHOFF SCULPTURE GARDEN

The new home for this national art museum is entirely underground, yet the art experience begins at the entry pavilion. Soaring to 170’ the lighting of the silvery reed-like structure begins the exploration of the themes explored in the building: water, light and movement. Additionally, the lighting was challenged to unify the oddly shaped spaces and complex internal architecture and to give the impression that daylight penetrates deep into the galleries three floors below the surface.
